This plugin connects to the OpenAI API to provide its core functionality. An OpenAI account and a valid API key are required for the plugin to work.
- Service: OpenAI API
- Purpose: This service is used to generate AI-powered chat responses and to create semantic vector embeddings from your website’s content, which form the knowledge base for the chatbot.
- Data Sent: When a user interacts with the chat, their query is sent to OpenAI. When an administrator syncs the knowledge base, the text content of the selected pages, posts, or files is sent to OpenAI to be processed. Your private OpenAI API key is also sent with each request for authentication.

Installation
From your WordPress dashboard:
- Navigate to ‘Plugins’ > ‘Add New’.
- Search for ‘Promptor’.
- Click ‘Install Now’ and then ‘Activate’.
- Go to the new ‘Promptor’ menu in your admin sidebar and follow the Quick Start Guide.
Manual installation:
- Download the plugin zip file from WordPress.org.
- Unzip the file and upload the
promptorfolder to your/wp-content/plugins/directory. - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
- Go to the ‘Promptor’ > ‘Settings’ menu to configure your API key and knowledge base.
