Requirements

  2. Upload the package using your plugins page > add new > upload or Extract the contents of .zip folder to wp-content/plugins/ folder

Very slow. Every stat on different pages and have to be loaded separately.

Google analytics is too much spying. Jetpack has turned into bloatware with way too many unrelated features when I mainly just want stats from it. So bloated it was noticeably slowing down my whole site at all times. Had to axe it. So I turned to wp visitor statistics and used the free vesion for about a year. Compared to the two above the GUI on this is atrocious. Other plugins list all the important stats on 1 page automatically. You don’t need to navigate to a different page for each individual stat you are interested in checking like you do with this. This might not be a problem except that when this is generating the stats its a real resource hog on the server. That means every time you want to check a different stat its a really long load time. Rest of the site is loading pretty fast, its just when checking pages associated with this plugin. I am guessing this is why ever stat is on a different screen. If it tried to do everything at once it would completely shutdown a small site. Its getting 2 stars and not 1 for 2 reasons. 1) It does what it says it does. Once the loading is done those appear to be real statistics for your site. 2) Unlike like jetpack, the only time it slowed the site down was when I was checking the stats. As long as I didn’t interact with the plugin it didn’t slow the site down like jetpack. So it was an improvement there. And while it took a long time to load, its still less than a 5 minute process to check the stats. I have been meaning to dump this for a while, and have finally done it. I think there are better plugins out there.

The best free solution I could found. It just works out-of-the box. You can install and just test it from different browsers, or under VPN from another country: it will update stats in realtime.

Best free option I found. NOT in bed with the “G” devil…. It takes a little learning curve to get the data I am after, but it does seem to report reasonably accurately compared to the bare raw data I get out of my hosting service.

Plugin keeps data even upon uninstall

“keep data after uninstalling the plugin” option will check itself again automatically even after unchecking it and saving the changes. this plugin leaves a lot of junk behind which cannot be removed and nothing has been done about it. this has been an issue with this plugin for more than a year it seems and nothing has been done about it
