So, I was on the GFAQs Duodecim board, minding my own business, and there was this fanart topic. Aside from that cool Dissidia newcomers pic that I posted to the airship_lounge, there was also this particular fanart.

And so for some shallow and obvious reason I can really see the attraction of this 'ship now (fan-named as GaWoL). My brain is going into overdrive with fanfic ideas and it's taking a lot of convincing to put these ideas aside.

WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF.

I know this is entirely unreasonable and is clearly a crack ship, but I think I ship Layle/Lightning. *innocent whistle* Layle of FF Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers is one sexy guy, I have to admit.

Now I totally do want him in Duodecium, if only so I can write the pairing legitimately without having to handwave. Or just set it in the Valhalla-verse. That could also work.

It's been a fair while since my last update, so I figured I'd better get off my figurative arse and post something, if only for my peace of mind. *sheepish*

In the long period between my last post and today, I turned 21, I resumed university (yay, semester two...) and my car broke down and had to be sold. So now I'm using the family's leaky Holden Commodore, which guzzles petrol like there's a hole in the tank. Me? I'm just lucky to even HAVE a car to drive with.

But I loved my car. ;_;

Also, the Melbourne Anime Festival 2010 (aka Manifest) was on last weekend, so I blew a fair bit of the cash I'd gotten for my 21st birthday. Got the Gurren Lagann collection, a Raichu plushie, and a couple of Batman collected comics (Year One, Long Halloween, the Killing Joke, Arkham Asylum: Serious House on Serious Earth, and finally Hush. Really wanted to get Dark Victory and Under the Hood, but y'know.

Also cosplayed again this year, but went as DC anti-hero Rorschach from Watchmen. Awesome fun! Lots of photos, will be keeping him. Will also be trying to cosplay Jak from Jak 2, the series by Naughty Dog. I am actually a huge fan of that series, if that's surprising.

While watching the AMV Iron Chef judging I spotted an anime that caught my eye - it's called Black★Rock Shooter and I watched it yesterday. Fuckin' awesome. Really nice animation quality, excellent fight choreography, both epic and adorable and heartbreaking all at once.

Was very cool, and now I want to write fic. ;_;

I now ship Mato/Yomi, damnit... and BRS/Dead Master (see icon).

But yes, been on a rather huge Batman kick recently, after finishing Arkham Asylum on the PS3. Fed this with the DC animated film Under the Red Hood, lots of Batman movies and all that! It's been quite fun.

Also, I caught a cold from my girlfriend. I was just so lucky it only really started after Manifest, otherwise it would have been unbearable under the mask. Blergh. But it's turned fully fledged now, sore throat, coughing, stuffed nose, the works!

Just... *facepalm* I'd normally consider this trolling, but I've seen this one-too many times in this fandom. And the fact that people ARE showing up to defend this? Guys. It's fandom. It's not serious fucking business. Really.

People can - and are perfectly within their rights to ship pairings other than Fang/Vanille - and if they do, they shouldn't be branded as homophobic idiots who are 'just part of the problem' --> in regards to heteronormativity. Heteronormativity is a problem, but 1) the relationship was subtext, and could have been taken both as platonic and as more, and 2) the majority of my ships are still femslash, and 3) IT'S FANDOM. NOT SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Okay, that last part sounds way hypocritical. I mean, if fandom's not serious business, why am I getting worked up over this? Well, I guess I'm just so sick of fandom ship wars and all its ugliness. Because it does get ugly. Just look at the Naruto and Bleach fandoms - that's some ugly shit over there.

We're allowed to ship Fang/Vanille, Lightning/Vanille, Serah/Lightning, Fang/Lightning, Fang/Vanille/Lightning, Sahz/Vanille, Snow/Lightning, Lightning/Hope, Hope/Vanille - this diversity is what gives the fandom life. The game can support so many pairings that it's just a shame to pigeon-hole two characters and say, "Nuh-uh, you can't split these two up, because if you do you're homophobic."

I thought we were better than this, guys.

I knew Fang/Vanille dominated, but woah. Was actually kind of surprised at how many prompts for Fang/Lightning were submitted. And LOL, Snow/Lightning and Snow/Hope is actually more popular than his canon pairing. Farroncest is also quite high.

Didn't bother tallying the one-off prompts (like Noctis/Lightning, Cid/Fang, etc).
