Has it been so long?

Apparently it has. I don't know why I'm here instead of on DW, but whatever. I've been doing okay, for anyone wondering — actually, great? I've been doing college, I've been reading, I've been doing small amounts of writing.

College: I might be done next year, with an AA instead of a BA. Which is fine, I need out of the system and I realized that math courses were digging into my PTSD pretty hard. It's been amazing how much energy I've gotten back just from not...taking stats anymore.

Reading: over a hundred books this year. I now keep an updated goodreads and write reviews occasionally. It is my favorite hobby and it does me so much good...and financial harm, because I buy too many books. Part of my over-buying was due to math stress though, so that should be coming under control.

Well... I'll try to write more updates here more often. But now my dog is calling and it's time to go.

Looking back on 2013 Writing Meme

I meant to do this before the year slipped over, but it's been a dead-brained week.

Hello, journal, haven't seen or used you in a while. Writing this year was posted almost entirely to AO3, so using numbers from there.

Total number of completed stories:

Fourteen. That's...a lot less than the number of 100+ back in 2012. To be fair, most of these are mammoth fics, and few are smaller than 500 words. ... Actually, none are. The writing fragments didn't get posted, see, and I didn't do any drabbles or comment-fics, really.

Total word count:
65,010 words posted on AO3, not counting any fragments I've put on my tumblr or left in the WIP pile. Considering that I like most of what I wrote this year? I'm pretty proud of it!

Overall Thoughts

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

I don't know what I was expecting. It's a lot - I was not expecting that many longfics, or was I expecting...so few smaller fics. I usually have a lot of ficlets and drabbles cluttering things up, but nope. Not this year. Huh.

What's your own favorite story of the year?
say nothing; share nothing

Hands down my favorite fic I've written this year - I adore bits of my other stuff, but this is the one I'm most proud of. It was written in the zone, it was magical, I loved it. I also did something I haven't done before with it - I wrote a first draft, then stripped it of all lines that were clunky and rewrote it from there. And it was miles better than it had any right to be.

It also helps that I loooooooooooooooooove soulbonds and soulbonding in general. :)

More questions under here...Collapse )

Short version:
I like what I wrote this year, I came up with a lot of ideas this year, and I hope to do more this year. Also, heeeey let's do original stuff this year. Certainly can't hurt!

Poking around [community profile] metanews and [community profile] month_of_meta and thinking - I have a gazillion thoughts about characters and pairings and fandoms and I almost never write them down, or save them for one-on-one conversations via IM, and I should...I'd like to write them out. Here, I mean.

I've recently discovered I've got a thing - a big thing - for identity kink. Marvel / MCU isn't conducive to this as most to all of their heroes are out and public, but I can't help but gravitate to fics that explore the AU idea of 'what if Tony hadn't outted himself in MCU' / 'is Captain America really Steve Rogers?' and so on.

There's a modern 'superheroes' AU I've been meaning to take and flesh out for months now. Captain America and the Winter Soldier, a pair of Brooklyn vigilantes keeping the place crime-free. Domino masks are awful for secret disguises, but it's a superhero AU so it runs on Clark-Kent's-glasses-work logic, and I am okay with that!

[insert 'aaa rambly' fears here; insert reminder that this is a journal, so I'm allowed to be incoherent]

Another genre I've been wanting to write more in - I always want to write more in here - is space, sci-fi, etcetera. Starships and aliens and space anomalies and I just love it, love it.

Problem is, whenever I go to write space aus I get bogged down in details, or want to go for grand plots, and it's the usual problem with huge universe-changing aus - I go for grand scale and have trouble following through.

(Fantasy AU only pulled through 'cause I didn't write out the second half of the epic, see.)

That's something I've noticed about myself in writing, well, anything - need a universe. It can't be an isolated random scene or I get frozen up quite badly. Why are Steve and Tony arguing? Need a reason before I can go to the PWP. Or if I want to write, eh, reporter AU, then I need a context.

Probably not unusual for writers but it does bog me down when I'm starting a thing.

On an entirely different topic, I saw the 2007 movie Zodiac and loved it more than I thought I would. I keep running into contemplation about Paul Avery and how loose ends can haunt you and I just. This close to writing something for it, frankly. (Or reporter / cop AU in general.)

To-Do

In no particular order:

- Get my 15k Fantasy AU Tony/Bruce fic beta-read and posted.
- Begin work on its sequel.
- Obtain a bingo for [community profile] trope_bingo so I can perhaps get a second card. (This involves writing at least two more stories.)

I am pleased to report that all is still well here. I know I post infrequently despite wanting to post more often, but - well.

I don't exactly post fic here anymore, thanks to AO3. Undecided if that's a good or bad thing, frankly.

And as for today

I really don't have much to say. I continue to chisel out the misshapen form of my novel (slowly, very slowly) and with more eagerness I work on more fic. (Which I stick up at AO3 instead of here, because...because.)

I'm still reading, I'm still writing, I'm still doing my thing.

My cats are well, my family is well...

In the end let's go back to the most important thing to talk about here: my writing. I'm slowly chiseling out the details and plot hooks of an original novel that I want to write - I want to do it justice, and I want the characters to take me away from here, and to that end my craft needs to be better.

There are themes (identity, what ties people together) and character concepts - I realized recently that I am a sucker for high concept stories, which...well, how do make plot interesting without losing coherency? And all that.

...It's slow work, but steady. And meanwhile I keep writing fic, because it's like an old pair of boots: fits perfectly and gets you places.

Still heavily into Avengers, still waiting for Captain America 2: Winter Soldier, still waiting for the next issue of Fearless Defenders to come out...

Little last piece of happiness: Shin Megami Tensei IV is getting a US release this summer, which is the best news I could've hoped for.

(Funny how I go from serious talk straight to geekery. I'm glad I'm like that.)

Looking Back

Mentally and emotionally exhausted now, after I spent a few hours working on a timeline of, well, my life. My therapist suggested it a week ago, and I finally did it, and...

Hindsight is perfect, painfully so. Why did I have a mental / emotional collapse back in '06? Because I didn't trust the therapist I had at the time / went off my meds / was almost literally friendless / my internet use was highly limited so my primary way of de-stressing was almost gone / middle of Winter, when everything is worse.

Could I have prevented it? ...Maybe if I were who am I now, but back then - I don't know. I don't think so. Rereading my LJ entries and journal entries from the time show me to be painfully immature. (...likely I'll read this entry in a few years and think the same thing)

It has been worth doing. I remember some of '09 now, and '10, if imperfectly. Not that it's pleasant to go back and remember IRL events during some of the roughest years of my life - that's - it feels like it's an exaggeration, or that I'm getting melodramatic, but...from my POV, I was screwed up, in a bad place, and I'm just glad my thoughts never truly turned to suicide or self-harm - only escapism.

...

As for where I am now - I'm happy. I'm not in a perfect place, I still need to mature and get better at all kinds of things, but - I have the time and space for that, and most of all I'm happy, which is the most important thing.

I can't tell you guys how glad I am I know you. Some of you have literally kept me going, and I - I'm grateful.

(Now how likely is it that this'll go unnoticed, because I put it here instead of on tumblr, or twitter...? Ah well, who cares. It goes here. On DW, on LJ, because this silly thing has done so much for me.)

Looking for something to read

Folks, do any of you know of any good scary novels? Or short story collections. I'm not looking for a link to a website with scary things, I'm looking for a book I can take with me to bed and read under the covers.

Please don't rec S. King or Koontz, I've read some of their stuff and they didn't click with me. And when I say horror - well, anything scary will do but if I must narrow it down, supernatural horror (ghost stories!) would be great.

Thanks!

(Oh! I should mention that I read House of Leaves and enjoyed that.)

What I'm Reading

I'm in the middle of The Rubber Band, a Nero Wolfe mystery by Rex Stout - it's good! Fun murder mystery, even more fun if you like the detectives. (Archie is such a charm to read. Reminds me of reading PG Wodehouse's novels just to see Bertie Wooster narrate.)

I'm also in the middle of The Russians by Hedrick Smith - fascinating look at all aspects of Russian life in the 60s/70s. Written by a reporter who lived there for a while, and it's just. Fascinating. (Also, apparently the copy I'm reading came from my grandma, so it's been neat to let her know I'm reading it.)

And finally I'm reading Dan Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts books - I'm in the early stages of the third book, Necropolis, and it's. It's so grimdark. I love it. I'm prepared for everyone to die, and with that mindset firmly in place, I love it. Great military-type novels in a sci-fi grimdark universe. (Warhammer 40k, to be precise, but you barely need to know anything other than the forces of Chaos = bad.) I have to hand it to Abnett, though - I've never seen a plot wrapped up so quickly. The second book, Ghostmaker - literally five pages and he wrapped up the plot, resolved the loose ends, and in the process didn't confuse or irritate me. It was a good ending. Just. Five pages. I'm still shocked at that. (I'm reading these books in omnibus format, btw)

Trope Bingo Ideas List

For reference and for fun, I'm sticking up my list of prompts for [community profile] trope_bingo along with my ideas for them.

Below is a lot of me thinking about ideas and stuff.

A lot of ideasCollapse )

Hello, journal

I think I'd like to come back here, if I can. As much as I enjoy fandoming purely on tumblr or AO3 or twitter, I miss the capacity for wordage this place has. (This applies to both DW and LJ)

I'm going to see if I can't find any Avengers comms. Try and get involved in...I don't know, just being friendly again.

Updates on me: I'm doing fine, I'm still absorbed into the Avengers fandom very, very heavily, and I'm working on a Steve/Tony/Bruce fic for [community profile] trope_bingo. (Yes, I got a card. Yes, it's wonderful. So many ideas off of it.) All I need is a little self-discipline to sit and write it. As usual.

Also! I'm returning to the habit of writing drabbles, just because I can. My writing needs polishing, and there's nothing better for that than drabbles, in my humble opinion.

So - how's everyone? (Is anyone still around?)

Merry Christmas

Here's to hoping that everyone here has a good holiday / holiday season, and a happy new year. Pleased to report that I'm doing well, as is my family.

Welp.

Let me continue to neglect this thing in favor of posting fics over at AO3, yes!

Er-hem: there are three new Avengers fics up at my AO3 account, two of which are gen (both of which are slashable) and one of which is a [community profile] kink_bingo fill. (Steve/Bucky/tiny!Steve)

In other news: I'm doing just fine, and on top of that I am geared up for NaNoWriMo this year - I've got an original sci-fi plot I'd like to try, and failing that there are always fic plots to try, so somehow I'll make it to 50k.

I hope everything's been alright here?
Title: the uncertain bridge between mind and matter.
Fandom: Avengers Movie-'verse.
Rating: PG.
Characters/Pairings: cyborg!Steve, Tony, JARVIS.
Warnings: None.
Word Count: 516 words.
Summary: Tony offers another smile and reaches into the electronic guts of the machine, extracting a few wires; seemingly oblivious to precisely what the sight of an eviscerated cyborg is doing to Steve's state of mind.
Notes: [personal profile] ravenspear inspired this. <3

Tony comes back to where he's seated on the table with wires and glowing pieces of metal and squints at Steve's exposed midsection.Collapse )

Fic Recs (Avengers Edition) 3/?

I finally got off my rear to continue this, as I've read a LOT of fic and I've got over 150~ bookmarked fics that are glorious.

The fics recced within contain Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson, a few Steve/Thors, and some gen fics. A mixed bag, in other words, with genres all over the place. Please enjoy!

||

Making It Work by Pandelion.

'Coulson is Fury's daemon.' Yes, it's a His Dark Materials AU. It's fantastic. Clint/Coulson, excellent handling of the idea, and I adore everyone's daemons. :3

Bonus: if you liked the fic, the author wrote some nifty headcanon thoughts about it, too. Worth a read!

The Twice-Told Tale by arysteia.

Steve/Tony fic wherein Tony falls for Steve, then falls for him again. Has the kind of IC writing that makes me hate the author because I may never write as well. Oh, and the time-travel bit is utterly brilliant.

well, let the drum beat drop by jonesandashes and pollyrepeat.

Gen team-bonding fic set post-movie involving various meals together, a bacon freezer that is literally full of bacon, and yoga pants. It's glorious.

10, 9, 8, car by pollyrepeat.

Clint/Coulson Groundhog Day/Mystery Spot AU that is plotty and wonderful and I don't have enough brilliant adjectives. Coulson's on a mission and keeps dying and Clint is getting sick of time-loops. And Coulson dying. And waking up to a godawful pop song every morning.

Coffee Cup Lullaby by ashinan.

Steve/Tony, Tony is shrunk down to be about three inches tall and he hates it.

Lust's Effect is Tempest After Sun by xDinahQueenx.

Steve/Tony sexpollen phonesex armor-is-involved fic. You already know if you want to read it or not.

Instant karma's gonna get you by dorcas_gustine.

Steve/Tony fic wherein things go badly for Tony whenever Steve's disappointed in him. And the effect stacks. Poor Tony. ;) Set in the Marvel Adventures: Avengers verse.

Speaking in Code by tsukinofaerii.

Tony is bored. .--. .... . .- .-. .... .. -- .-.-.- (Phear him.)

Tony texts Steve a whole bunch and gets into morse code. :D

Man on Top by Amuly.

Steve/Tony PWP involving grappling and Tony being a sore loser.

A Week in the Life of Highly Respected SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson by boombangbing.

Exactly what it says on the tin - gen and lovely. :3

Baby Daddy Drama by sparrowshellcat.

Howlingly funny fic where Loki shows up and apparently is pregnant...but who's the father? (Most of the team might be the father, some of the X-Men might be the father...it just gets worse and worse.)

Worth a read even if you're not a fan of the pairings. :)

Deep Waters by AlchemyAlice.

Truly excellent fic that's an IC look at Tony's PTSD after Afghanistan. It's Steve/Tony and just...hurts in all the right ways.

When the finally come to destroy the earth (they'll have to go through you first) by AlchemyAlice.

Batman crossover - Tony and Bruce went to the same boarding schools and are fellow billionaires and superheroes. Brilliant. (Has background Steve/Tony.)

I've got your words in me by eleanor_lavish.

Clint/Coulson, one of the two fics to sell me on the pairing. Excellent characterization.

I Trust You to Kill Me by ghostrunner.

The other Clint/Coulson fic that sold me on the pairing so that I would go on to read others. Amazing first-time fic, brilliant characterization, the works.

Something Quiet and Minor and Peaceful and Slow by torakowalski.

A sweet, sweet Clint/Coulson fic. Exactly what it says on the tin.

(First Impressions Are) A Work in Progress by porthos.

Steve/Tony fic that is an excellent look at how they might hate each other before they work past that. Slowly. Kinda. <3

Power by AccursedSpatula.

Steve/Thor PWP that is hot in all of the right ways. Nnnf.

Steve/Thor ficlet by ravenspear.

Short, hot. Involves sparring. :9

still officially lost by pollyrepeat.

"Barton has clearly imprinted on you," Fury starts, and keeps talking right over Phil’s knee-jerk, horrified, "He has not," to seal Phil’s doom by saying, "so I’ve decided that you’re going to take primary responsibility for him from now on."

"Oh, god," Phil says, faintly, before he can stop himself.

//

Otherwise known as, SHIELD: The Early Years.

shark-repellant by ravenspear.

Tony gets inspired by a classic and makes it reality. :D

I shouldn't neglect this thing

Popping back onto here to give a brief update - I'm back from the trip safely, I'm doing well...I'm even writing again.

No guarantees or promises on when I'll finish or post anything, but hey, it's nice to be putting words to paper again.

I do have a general question, if anyone knows the answer: are there any Avengers drabble communities? I've missed that type of challenge, and if there are any on DW or LJ that'd be swell.

Happy Birthday to me :3

I'm now twenty-one~

I could sit and type up a retrospective post, but - I'm glad I've made it this far, I promise to drink responsibly, and with luck you'll all be around to celebrate with me when I'm...eh, pick a year, any year. 22, 25, 30, whatever milestone works.

I'm afraid I've got to go finish packing, but I did want to stop and post here afore I left. Take care, everyone. :)

update

In less than ten days I have both my birthday (on the 31st) and I leave for an almost-two-week-long trip to Oklahoma to see family / drop my brother off at college / etc.

I may or may not have wifi on this trip, and it may or may not be reliable. I will have my laptop, I will have my notebooks - I'll write when I can, if I actually finish any fic and have wifi I'll post it, but in general - I'll be gone. I don't like that, but them's the breaks.

I'll leave out most of my complaints about the trip (none of you need to read IRL drama) but I believe everyone gets my frustration over lack of a spotty wifi-fi at where we're staying.

...Anyhoo.

That's where I'll be, and that's why I've been stressed out more than usual lately. (and thus compensating with more videogames / fun things to cope)

In conclusion: I hope everyone else is doing well. :)

Kink Bingo Card 2012

I got my card, I've posted fic already, I'd better share: I'm doing [community profile] kink_bingo again this year.

Card under here.Collapse )

[fic] Pushing Boundaries.

Title: Pushing Boundaries.
Fandom: Avengers Movie-'verse.
Rating: NC-17.
Characters/Pairings: Steve/Bruce/Tony. (Captain America/Hulk/Iron Man)
Warnings: Tentacles, sex, orgasm denial.
Word Count: 2,262 words.
Summary: Bruce holding Steve down while Steve's overloaded by these new appendages that won't stop touching things. Namely Bruce. Oh, and Tony helps out too.
Notes: A fill for [community profile] kink_bingo. My card is fabulous and I'll post it after this, so I can share how glorious it is.

Many thanks to [personal profile] ravenspear and [personal profile] theinsaneeraser for being general cheerleaders here. ;)

Oh, and: assuming that it's set with a pre-established relationship between Bruce, Steve and Tony.

Steve remains still, grounded by Bruce's hold but helpless because of it, unable to do anything except feel.Collapse )
Okay. So. Me an' @pyrebi went from talking about the difficulties of writing Tony Stark and Dean Winchester IC-ly to me mentioning Steve Rogers/Dean Winchester and that. spiraled.

After a few aborted attempts at figuring out how that'd work, @pyrebi proved herself a genius and here's where the tweets I saved kick in:

pyrebi: NEW PLAN—2014!AU. Power struggles over survivors! Captain fuckin' America can back the fuck off or he'll learn if he's bulletproof.

The rest of the long twitter conversation under hereCollapse )

And then we went to bed. And then I woke up and discovered that @pan_pandeus saw our conversation and wrote this: ficlet inspired by the ideas.

and \o/ love this AU.

Postin' a fic :D

Drive-by fic post...

An AU wherein Steve is a drummer. Avengers, G, fun, etc. :D?

(I doubt I'll crosspost it here, it's short.)

[fic] and you're out

Title: and you're out
Author: [personal profile] zekkass.
Fandom: Avengers Movie-'verse.
Rating: PG-13.
Characters/Pairings: Tony Stark/Steve Rogers (Iron Man/Captain America).
Warnings: Violence, arc reactor removal, possibly PTSD?
Word Count: 4,254 words.
Summary: A villain kidnaps Tony and removes his arc reactor and Steve's the one to rescue him. Tony proceeds to try and deal with this. Steve tries not to think about the gaping hole he saw in Tony's chest.
Notes: A fill for this prompt over at the Avengers kinkmeme. It was supposed to be a 500~ word fill, but...I can't do anything short these days, it seems.

more importantly there is a hole in his chest, a metal-rimmed hole that Steve knows will haunt his dreams in nights to comeCollapse )

Self-indulgence

So: a show presents the MCs with a question

'you have one wish. sky's the limit. but you get one - and when you make it, well, you're basically being entered into a magical war. Make a wish that's worth your life."

And I think...what would I wish for?

What would be worth it?

...and...I'm not surprised. But I think: I wish I could write exactly how I wanted to on command. I wish I could write out all of the stories in my head and do them justice. And that it wouldn't take years.

...

Sadly it doesn't work like that, and I actually have to put in the work to become the kind of writer I want to become.

Fic Recs (Avengers Edition) 2/?

I'm back (finally!) with more Avengers fic recs. Once again: these may have been recced elsewhere, most of these are Steve/Tony and movie-verse - but I love all of them. I'm reccing these for a reason, see. (There may also be some Clint/Coulson because I adore that pairing too. Covering all bases here.)

Mr. July by jibrailis.

'This is about the calendar where my teammates are posing in their underwear.' (or, Steve posed in the calendar and Tony didn't and either way it leads to villains devoting a lot of time to the pursuit of keeping Cap naked 24/7 and Tony has to um. deal with that. Yes.)

Cold Making Warmth by sheafrotherdon.

Wherein Steve gets everyone Christmas gifts - and it's touching and an excellent character study and Thor is given a horse named Clifford and. This is a fic I gather up close and adore. :3

Apple Bottom Jeans by gyzym.

Wherein Steve discovers that a) Tony sings in the shower, b) he can hear this from his room and c) Tony has a nice voice.

Phantom Moments Between Each Breath by Sidara.

A Tony-centric piece where...it's good. It deals with the arc reactor and Tony dealing with it and yes, Steve notices, and - it's good. Very good. (*pulls Tony close; hugs*)

Necessary Experience by often_adamanta.

He opened his mouth, intending to reassure Steve, but what came out was, “God, I really want to blow you.” Panic immediately twisted his stomach, but the Never mind, shit, just forget I said that stalled at the complete and utter incomprehension on Steve’s face.

“Blow me where?” Steve asked. Tony opened and closed his mouth, for once speechless. Steve gave him an uncertain smile. “Is this another superpower or something?”

(this is wonderful and funny and hot, in other words)

Signed, Steeped, Delivered by gyzym and Siria.

"Fuck," he said as soon as the call connected. "Fuck, I'm so fucked, Rhodey, I'm so—no, not because of that. No, no, not that either, would you shut up? No, what I'm trying to, to say to you, to articulate, is that I may well be... actually, no, strike the conditional, I'm pretty sure I'm in love with Captain Fucking America, and—why are you laughing?"

(It gets funnier from there in the best ways. <3)

Team Building Activities by valtyr.

*rereads fic; attempts to think of a good summary or something...* aha!

"Do not laugh, do not smirk, do not stare off into space, and do not step on my foot. Again. I am a beautiful princess, and you will treat me like one. Guide me tenderly, do not haul me about like a sack of potatoes." He took a firm step backwards, and Steve obediently followed him. Fury had been surprisingly receptive to the idea of teaching Steve to dance, and had found space on his calender the very next day.

It's also - the team coming together, Tony learning about Steve and Steve learning about the future and everything - it's wonderful. It's plotty. It has Fury teaching Steve to dance. What more do I need to say?

Steve finds Tony's stash of Captain America memorabilia. by gyzym.

Probably the most hilarious thing on this post.

Camaraderie by gqgqqt.

Tony and Steve play Mario Kart and it is glorious.

User Interface by AlchemyAlice.

Steve gets a glimpse of Tony working - with those 3D holographic displays. Awe is had, and techglee - My words are failing me. Read it, it's good!

The Beauty Asleep In The Workshop OR Sleeping Tony by cookinguptales.

A witch curses Tony to sleep until he's kissed by his true love. The Avengers proceed to call every number in his little black book. This includes the dudes.

The Very Secret Diary of Captain Steven G. Rogers in the Twenty First Century by ykoriana.

Day 7
The Dodgers moved to Los Angeles.

Am now convinced there is no dastardly Nazi mind control plot. Not even the Red Skull could come up with something so cruel.

The twenty first century sucks.

Look here, look back, look ahead by marinarusalka.

This this this. I love this fic. I could write a love letter to this fic. It's - okay. First I need to explain Marvel Noir. That's a comic 'verse wherein no one has powers/kind of? Point is: Noir!Tony is a 1930s/40s Indiana Jones type who goes on adventures and gets them published in a month comic magazine and this fic is the perfect meld between that and Captain America canon. (As Captain America fits perfectly in the Noir verse without tweaking.)

Tony meets tiny!Steve because Steve's a part-time janitor to pay his way through college, promptly hires him after spotting his sketches, then befriends him, then - plot happens. Or, well, the fic starts with Tony crashing somewhere in Germany and getting rescued by Captain America. Who reminds him of his artist friend tiny!Steve. But there are Germans with evil plans that they need to stop, so it's a bad idea to stop and puzzle out why Cap reminds him of tiny!Steve.

It's glorious in other words.

...

And I'm still nowhere near done with fic recs, but that's what I have energy for, so - please enjoy!

Finally.

Let it so be known that today, 4/21/2012, on about 11:20~, I have beaten Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.

I beat it on hard mode, going for the True Demon Ending (with bonus hard boss) and with 100% completion: completely filled compendium, all magatamas. (for non-SMT players out there, think a completely filled pokedex + all weapons/armors obtained)

I probably could play it again to see the other endings besides Musubi's ending (which I have seen) but - to be honest? I'll raid youtube and save myself from the tunnels again.

Either way: \o//// \\\\o/

Belial/OC, NC-17, taking advantage/emo-kink (kinda) for ravenspear

[drabble] Coffee

Here, have exactly a hundred words of Steve Rogers thinking about coffee. (Avengers movie-verse, G)

This is why he finds the coffee of the future so unsettlingCollapse )

[ficlet] Normal is for other people.

Title: Normal is for other people.
Author: [personal profile] zekkass.
Fandom: Avengers Movie-Verse.
Rating: G.
Characters/Pairings: Steve Rogers + Jarvis, mentions of others.
Warnings: None.
Word Count: 584 words.
Summary: Jarvis wants to know what normal for Steve is.
Notes: This is my attempt at writing from Steve's POV for once - fingers crossed it's alright.

Jarvis? I'm having a conversation with the British man in the ceiling while drinking tea and sketching, and this is a slow morning. I don't think I'm one to talk to about what counts as normal.Collapse )

[fic] Bodyswap!

As LJ won't let me post it all in one piece and it's not worth the headache...

Bodyswap!, 16k(!) of Avengers fic (Steve/Tony) over at my DW. Three guesses at to what's in the fic, and the first two don't count.

Also over at AO3!

Fic Recs (Avengers Edition) (Incomplete)

More specifically, Steve/Tony fic recs, as I've fallen head-over-heels in love with the pairing.

I should note: things on this list may have been recced elsewhere. Things on this list may appeal to only me. But I've read everything on this list and like it, so on it goes.

Also, I'm not sorting by universes. Expect most of them to be movie-verse fic, in any case.

Ready, Fire, Aim by gyzym.

This, if I may be so bold, is my favorite Steve/Tony fic in general, long with its two sequels/side stories. It chronicles Steve and Tony going from hating each other to not, with Thor's birthday along the way and the Avengers moving into the mansion and it's just a wonderful work.

Doing Dishes by lymricks.

An absolutely adorable character study, as Tony doesn't get why Steve would do the dishes. :3

Exactly the Way You Like It by Resonant.

PWP, virginity kink, really hot.

Homefront by [personal profile] sam_storyteller.

Longish, excellent, wherein Tony worries about Steve. This description doesn't do it justice.

Hidden Truths by Penumbra.

This is a Golden Age Era fic, where Tony runs around keeping the fact that he's Iron Man secret from the Avengers - Iron Man claims to be Tony Stark's bodyguard, see - and quite frankly I love it when Tony reveals/is found out, and this one has a line I've memorized:

Tony sighed, closing his eyes, and finally, finally managed to bring his hand down from the betraying position: Arm straight out, hand up, palm outward, directly facing toward Steve... exactly as it would be to fire a repulsor blast.

Beneath The Armor by Nix.

This is also a Golden Age Era fic, and it feels like you could easily fit it in with one of those early issues. It's a lovely character study, too, and just...so charming. :3

villain!Tony AUs - Or, one of my favorite scenarios. Here are my favorites from the type.

Secrets of a Successful Marriage by [personal profile] valtyr.

villain!Tony/Steve AU, wherein they're married and have no idea that they're superheroes/villains. This is my favorite of the villain!Tony fics, for it's clever, plotty, features secret identities getting revealed, Pepper-as-Rampage, and other glorious things.

Engaging the Enemy by tsukinofaerii.

Wherein Tony kidnaps Steve a lot of times and isn't as evil as he's made out to be. \o/

Below the Belt by cookinguptales

This is more PWP than plotty, but the premise is lovely as is the writing.

---

And bedtime has just caught up with me, so more of these will have to wait - I have an entire folder of bookmarks to go through, so expect more recs over the next few weeks. I've been doing a lot of reading, see.

Fic!

LJ's giving me a headache, so I'm not going to bother sorting out crossposting...

Ahem.

How To Excel At Supervillainy (and lose your heart to America), 13k words of Avengers fic (Tony/Steve, NC-17) over at my DW. (Where I can post 13k words in one post and not get cut off.) And an AO3 link!

Warning

Going on a bit of a flist pruning spree - it's gotten untidy, so - if you want to be refriended, let me know. If not, no worries!

Status

It occurs to me that I oughta at least post to let folks here know that I'm not dead. I'm still going through fandoms/dealing with IRL/tweeting a lot, but so far writing has been spotty at best, hence the silence here. I like to post with content, after all.

I'm currently flitting into the Avengers movies/comics, so here's advance warning if that turns into fic writing - or a fic rec post, I've been reading a lot - and well.

Life's good here, in short. I hope the same applies to everyone here. :)

Fandom/Original: Jeeves & Wooster/Sherlock.
Rating: G.
Characters/Pairings: Jeeves and Mycroft.
Warnings: None.
Word Count: 355 words.
Notes: This is all jabber_moose's fault.

Ahem. SPOILERS for Sherlock 2x01, set just after the entire affair, implies that Mycroft and Jeeves have been coworkers/drinking buddies before this. You know.

We can't always account for everything, Jeeves.Collapse )

The only problems with them is that I'm almost certain each one is gonna inspire a 10k epic and they're all due by July so .___.

But yeah, I really, really love those prompts!

*tackle hugs* I'm glad you're happy with yourself and your life. You really deserve it because you're a wonderful person and no one as amazing as you should ever be sad.
