"Do you have change for a ton?" "On Thursday's Daily Show, Jon Stewart lampooned former US Iraq consul Paul Bremer -- who somehow managed to lose $8.8 billion of $12 billion in cash. Said Democrat Henry Waxman (D-CA) of the US effort to send so much money to Iraq, "To do that, the Federal Reserve Bank had to pack 281 million individual bills... This money, mainly $100 bills, was packed into bricks and each brick was worth $400,000 each... The cash weighed more than 363 tons."

Chef Anthony Bourdain bites the hands that feed him, sorta. (Edit: Nope, he doesn't work for FoodNet anymore! Hat tip to our resident expert, quixotickitten!) A blog post in which he reviews the other chefs currently populating the Food Network. Best description of Rachael Ray I've ever read, too.

On Flickr, Storytelling:

  • Andrew Losowsky started a set of images of Doorbells of Florence, where each photo of a doorbell is accompanied by an original short story. This form has been coined "flicktion" (=flickr + fiction) which others have picked up as a way to use images and story together. See photos tagged with flicktion to see more examples.

  • A flickr group called Visual Storytelling has created a visual form of story in which the entire tale must be told with only 5 images (and no text)-- see the example shown, called The Mosquito.

  • Six Word Story picks up on Hemingway's rise to the challenge of writing a complete story in only six words. In this version, a story must be told in one image and six words.
