Commuting while Gimpy

There are things I love about living here in NYC, but commuting to work has never been one of them. Trains that break down, anti-terrorist announcements, inconsiderate fellow subway, bus and train passengers (that Howling Wookie cell phone ring may get you killed one day, my friend), Mr. Mariachi, aggressive homeless people, people whose snores sound like mating hippos, Missionaries, oppressive heat and sticky humidity in the summer and frozen extremities in the winter.... and if you drive, traffic and potholes that make Los Angeles’ freeways look like the Indy 500.

I really dislike commuting. So one can only imagine how happy I am to be limping like a wounded gazelle these days. I hurt my ankle a couple of weeks ago -- made a tiny tear in my achilles tendon. It’s getting better and is less painful, but I’m still moving pretty slowly.

The problem isn’t getting around, it’s the people. In two weeks I’ve been pushed, snapped at, stepped on and had people deliberately walk directly towards me so I have to swerve to avoid them.

Did you ever want to just lecture a whole damned city about their manners?
