Biography
I am working as a Senior Lecturer (Equivalent) and a Senior Research Fellow with the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Huddersfield. I hold a BEng and an MEng in Computer Science and Technology, a PhD in Instrument Science and Technology, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, and a PGC in Higher Education. I was appointed as a Research Fellow in June 2021 and a Senior Research Fellow in September 2024 and have served as a Senior Lecturer (Equivalent) since June 2025. I have engaged in teaching undergraduate and master’s students and supervising/co-supervising PhD students since September 2023. I have authored/co-authored 60+ journal papers. I am leading a Royal Society International Exchanges Grant which aims to develop an AI-assisted approach for laser powder bed fusion product specification and verification. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Member of the EPSRC Peer Review College, an Expert Reviewer of EPSRC funding applications, an Expert Reviewer of AHRC funding applications, a Review Expert of funding applications from an international funding body, an Editorial Team Member of 6 journals, and a Reviewer of 80+ journals.

- 20/05/2026: I attend the Early Career Researcher Symposium of the EPSRC Future Advanced Metrology Hub for Sustainable Manufacturing and make an oral presentation entitled “Integration in Additive Manufacturing Digital Thread: A Category-Theoretic Framework” at University of Oxford, Oxford, UK.
- 11/09/2025: I attend the 22nd International Conference on Manufacturing Research and make an oral presentation entitled “Optimisation of Controllable Variables for Improving Part Quality in Laser Powder Bed Fusion” at University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK.
- 28/05/2025: I visit the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering of Yangtze University and deliver an invited lecture entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Geometrical Product Design, Manufacturing, and Measurement” at Yangtze University, Jingzhou, China.
- 27/05/2025: I serve as one of the session chairs for the 16th International Symposium on Measurement Technology and Intelligent Instruments / 3rd International Conference of Optical Imaging and Measurement in Wuhan, China.
- 26/05/2025: I attend the 16th International Symposium on Measurement Technology and Intelligent Instruments / 3rd International Conference of Optical Imaging and Measurement and make an oral presentation entitled “Abstracting prediction of surface roughness in laser powder bed fusion using logical reasoning and category theory” in Wuhan, China.
