whose portraits have been painted in close relation to the burials. The church was completed in two phases within the 13th century and preserves wall-paintings in the sanctuary and the narthex. Based on stylistic criteria, the wall-paintings should be dated between 1260 and 1280. Sophronios Kalozoes was the donor of the programme of the narthex, in which he was buried; however, taking into consideration the completion of the painting of the church in short time, he could actually be the donor of the sanctuary’s paintings as well.
