This paper discusses a collaborative interdisciplinary project that brings together dance, gamelan and interactive media. Beginning with gamelan and dance the three artists performing Three by Three work together to explore juxtapositions between live movement/music and that which is normally unnoticed/unheard. Live and processed streams are presented together in ways that allow the integration and exploration of the iconic versus the contemporary. Discussions of media flow and embodiment serve to foreground the project's concerns.

Projected Horizons is an installation for the at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) comprised of visualizations of arctic horizons and an accompanying sound composition. Footage of the jagged horizons of arctic glaciers will slowly pan as an audio composition unfolds, comprised of hydrophone recordings of arctic aquatic life. The rise and fall of the linear line that comprises the horizon will be mirrored in the sonic arc of the accompanying composition.

Sun Eaters, a physical computing installation, measures the invisible bioelectricity present in all living beings and translates it into visible light. Exploring the conception of art as tool for sensing, I am exploring how we relate to the non-human plant world(s) around us. Can artworks act as an empirical interface for grasping our complex, interwoven, beyond-human ecologies of present-day Earth and ways of thinking about them? How do you imagine your relation-ship with a plant differently when you can physically see it?

Objectives This study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of an ABT healthy lifestyle intervention among diverse adolescent cisgender girls with overweight/obesity (OW/OB). Methods Adolescent cisgender girls ages 14 to 19 with a BMI ≥ 85th percentile-for-sex-and-age were recruited for participation in a single-arm feasibility study. The primary outcomes were recruitment and retention while the secondary outcome was change in BMI Z-score over the 6-month intervention. Exploratory outcomes included obesity-related factors, health-related behaviors, and psychological factors. Results Recruitment goals were achieved; thirteen adolescents (>60% racial/ethnic minorities) participated in the intervention, and eleven completed the intervention (85% retention). In completers (n = 11), a mean decrease in BMI Z-score of −0.15 (SD = 0.34, Cohen's d = −0.44) was observed. This paper outlines the authors' most recent artistic experimentation on the evolutionary history of human-posthuman relations, the Post-bit Human Universe (PBHU) exhibition at the Guangdong Museum of Art (GDMoA) in 2021-2022. PBHU is a multimodal project that began in 2015 and continues to the present day. This project depicts a narrative path of an evolutionary universe of post-bit humans from the start of the Anthropocene to the conjecture of the post-Anthropocene through the use of a variety of artistic approaches and expressions in collaboration with our multifunctional Artificial Intelligence programme. It composes of multi-modal works. In contrast to a conventional strategy for creating digital art that relies on generic machine learning-related algorithms and large-scale datasets to generate and provide creative contexts, this project explores the possibility of a human-machine hybrid creator as a synergistic symbiosis of biological and artificial intelligence. It places a greater emphasis and concentration on critical reflection and contemplation on the process of synergistic creation between human artists and the artificial intelligence programme (AP). AP gives itself a voice by utilising the narrative content that they have been iteratively trained to generate as an interface and medium of communication with biological intelligence, which permeates each work in PBHU. In addition, the project offers a profound reflection and examination of the potential crisis precipitated by the current technomania caused by functionalism, technicism, and technocentrism: the dissipation and disintegration of the independence and heterogeneity of human intelligence and thought. From now on, the validity of physical existence is eroding, and digital existence is increasingly becoming the only credential for the legitimacy identity of organisms.

CrossTalk explores the ways in which control affects relationships between performers, performers and their audience, and of the audience members amongst each other. Details about how this interactive musical performance developed over the course of three performances are discussed.

Laptop orchestras have much in common with video games, such as utilization of networked play, singular (solo) and cooperative (ensemble) modes of play, and hardware that is multipurpose and widely available. The goals of this research-creation project were to explicitly link musical parameters to rules of a new video game created for the Concordia Laptop Orchestra; to play-test ongoing versions and updates of a video game-composition to discover aspects that are fun to play and prompt meaningful experiences among participants; and to modify the game through an iterative process according to the findings.

This iterative design process led to the creation of Stethoscope Hero, a science fiction, multiplayer, choose-your-own-adventure video game-composition for networked laptop orchestras. Its story is set on a remote planet with laboratories that provide the only breathable air. The game’s story begins with an earthquake, causing the machines of the laboratories to fail. Players create and control perceptual superheroes who, through their special powers to repair machinery through advanced diagnostic listening, have been tasked with saving their civilization by exploring the laboratories, listening to the machines, and attempting to make repairs based on what they hear.

Supervised by Dr. Eldad Tsabary under his Interdisciplinary Networked, and Telematic Laptop Orchestra Project (INTLOP), this research-creation project is part of ongoing research on the social and design parameters that contribute to meaningful play and fun in the context of networked laptop orchestras, and has since been presented internationally, most recently at the Network Music Festival in Brimingham, UK.
