In the present paper, an environmental analysis of Manikpur area, Korba coalfield, Bilaspur, M.P., India is undertaken. The area lies in the Geological Survey of India Toposheet no. 64J/11 Latitude 82742b54n-82745b10n North; Longitude 22718b46n-22719b46n East. The paper deals with pollution and its control measures through the natural plants found in the vicinity of the coalmines, namely Mangifera indica, Eucalyptus spp., Cassia siamea, Delbergia sissoo, etc. The plants control the Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM), Nitrous Oxides (NOx), Sulphur Oxides (SOx) of the mines and mining site. Therefore, plantation in the mining site should be encouraged.

Summary Spinning disc reactor (SDR) technology was tested to produce an ice cream base, which was subsequently used to make model ice cream. The ice cream base containing butterfat, lecithin, xanthan gum, sugar, skimmed milk and double cream was passed over the SDR disc spinning at 2900 rpm, heated at 80 °C and at a flow rate 6 mL s−1. The physical properties of the SDR-processed ice cream base such as particle size and viscosity measurments, and of model ice cream including overrun, meltdown rate and sensory perception were investigated. The SDR-processed ice cream base exhibits narrow particle-size distribution (average particle d32 = 1.65 μm, d43 = 2.98 μm) and the viscosity was found to be similar at zero and 18 h ageing, whilst the model ice cream requires zero-hour ageing and has a high overrun value (∼85%) and slow meltdown rate as compared with a commercial sample. Leucine enkephalin has been studied using the combination of electrospray ionization (ESI) with a fast flow technique. ESI of leucine enkephalin produces an isotopic multiplet of peaks beginning at m/z 556. Hydrogen/deuterium exchange of this multiplet with ND 3 has revealed the contribution of two ion populations to this multiplet: The singly protonated monomer and the doubly protonated dimer. These populations were separated through their different kinetic behavior. Whereas the dimers undergo slow exchange the monomers undergo pronounced complexation with ND 3 and display a fast exchange of four labile hydrogens. The results indicate a more compact globular structure for the diprotonated dimer.
