Plugin works for me in WP 4.7.3, after I entered a proper URL in the setting path field.

I installed the plugin in multisite, opened the setting page, in it put the 16×16 icon filename already uploaded on the mentioned path updated the settings tried on different browsers with cleared cache, no favicon displayed on any one of them. Then did the same for gif and png but no luck. So just a wastage of time.
