Closing The Book

PathOfHeaven

As a heads-up, this is more of a personal thing than an actual update.

Originally, back in 2019, I had planned to continue YoY subs, working on a scrub of TOKU HD’s release of the original Gridman, but multiple factors kept me away from scubbing during the year.

Towards the end of the year, I had begun thinking about a project I had wanted to do for a long time, one that would be the beginning of something new that I wanted to bring to life, and that project is now heading towards being brought to life.

But I knew that if I was going to dedicate to it, that I wouldn’t be able to keep this whole thing going at the same time, with the amount of free time I had to spread around.

Originally, I was going to let YoY just wither away, with the 1 completed sub having been made redundant by newer releases from people who I have the biggest amounts of respect for, and the 2 other projects that never got beyond a handful of episodes, which looking back, I realize were never going to be anything more than interpretations of bad translations.

But I hate leaving things alone, just off to the side with no indication of an end, it just feels empty, and made me feel weird.

So now I might as well get to the point of this post: As of today, five years after I started, Yongou over Yander is officially dead.

What does this mean for the projects? Well not much really. As I already said, my Kabuto scrub got an improved release by Earthly, and I believe OZC is currently going through the series with the Blu-Ray RAWs. Taro’s going to be receiving an officially licensed release by Mill Creek on Blu-Ray within the next 6 months. Which leaves Jumborg as the unlucky one still stuck with bootleg subtitles, but considering I only ever got to episode 3, I don’t think that’s the biggest loss.

As for the site? I’ll leave it and the Twitter up because of sentimental value. I’ve deleted a lot of stuff I made over the last decade and some change, and it always stings that I can’t find it again for memory’s sake, so I’d like to just leave things the way they are.

But, as you could probably guess, the actual releases from YoY will be taken down prior to this post. Ignoring that Taro is actually going to be licensed, Kamen Rider has built up more of a chance for being licensed in the future than I ever expected it to, and even if Kabuto doesn’t get licensed, you’ll be left with nothing but better versions of the show to watch.

With that out of the way, I wanted to leave whoever sees this with a little message-

Please do not be toxic or vitriolic towards fansubbers, too many people have hateful and sometimes just weird messages thrown their way, for work that they put their heart and soul into, at no charge at all. Even if you disagree with a stylistic decision a fansubber can make, it doesn’t mean they deserve to be dehumanized for their work. Of course this is all keeping in mind that said fansubber is equally respectful and isn’t vitriolic themselves.

Also, support your favorite franchises in any way you can, and I don’t just mean buying a DVD or any other kind of merchandise. Sharing your love for a creative’s work, introducing others to it, cultivating a healthy relationship with the work, can not only possibly open up new avenues for that work to go, but also keeps you from becoming jaded and frigid with your love of art. Even if monetary gains do help projects get greenlit, it’s not the only factor.

But above all else, keep walkin’ the path of heaven.

Update: Past, Present, and Future

[YoY]Kamen Rider Kabuto God Speed Love.mkv_snapshot_01.13.30_[2018.12.15_16.57.48]

Not going to sugar-coat anything, this was long overdue.

It’s been over eight months since the last post on this site, and I felt the need to break the silence.

First of all, status on my two old projects:

For the time being, Jumborg and Taro will not be continued. I realized that I wasn’t ready to work on either of them at all when I attempted to scrub them. While I would love to go back and continue those projects, I feel like I still need to reevaluate how I handle things in regards to my projects.

I have, since April, been trying to figure out all the flaws with how I went about scrubbing, and I’m at a point where I feel comfortable enough taking on a new project. I can promise that this time that it’ll not only have a higher standard of quality, but that I will have it finished much quicker than Kabuto.

I hope all of you have a happy new year, and enjoy what the future has in store.

Ultraman Taro – Episode 1

[This link has been removed, sorry for any inconvenience]

Well, it has been awhile hasn’t it.
I have no good excuse for releasing no scrubs for over a year, so I won’t dwell on that for too long.

I’m happy to say that my main project will be Ultraman Taro, and I plan on releasing scrubs for all 53 episodes that exist.

These subs are based on the HK bootleg subs, of course I have patched them up to the best of my abilities, and have made them into softsubs.

For those curious about Jumborg Ace, I have not completely forgotten that project, but it will become a smaller priority next to Taro, being released every now and then, unlike Taro’s (hopefully often) schedule.

I’m glad to once again scrub another tokusatsu series, and I hope to release many episodes next year, this will be a sort of test run for how the episodes will be handled, please send as much feedback as you can.

I hope you enjoy!

If you find any errors with the episodes then DM my twitter account (@YoYsubs) or comment below.
Thank you for being so patient with me.
