Finland will summon Russia's ambassador over the drone incident at Leipzig airport, according to Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP).
Valtonen made the remarks as she arrived at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Wicklow, Ireland. Finland, she said, supports Germany's efforts to increase pressure on Moscow.
The German government said on Tuesday that Russia was responsible for an incident in which a drone carrying explosives was found near a Ukrainian cargo aircraft at Leipzig airport in early August. A second drone, also showing signs of explosives, was discovered near the airport.
Kaja Kallas, the EU's foreign policy chief, has likewise said that the European Union will summon Russia's ambassador to Brussels over the incident.
Sweden is taking a similar line. Public broadcaster SVT reported that Maria Malmer Stenergard, the Swedish foreign minister, had summoned Russia's ambassador to the foreign ministry following the drone incident.
Valtonen last summoned Russia's ambassador to Helsinki, Pavel Kuznetsov, in July, in response to Russian cyber activities.
