Finnish-Israeli soldier dies in Gaza

The man, a dual citizen of Finland and Israel, died a week before completing his three-year service in the Israeli Defence Forces.

A Finnish-Israeli soldier died fighting in Gaza, Finnish media outlets Helsingin Sanomat and Iltalehti reported on Thursday.

The Finnish Foreign Ministry confirmed the 21-year-old dual citizen's death to HS and IL.

The Times of Israel and Kainuu newspaper Kuhmolainen both carried the man's obituary. The papers said that the man died during Israel's assault on the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

According to the man's obituary, he died 23 March. His three-year military service in the Israeli army would have ended a week later, on 30 March.
