More than a third cast ballots ahead of final early voting day

Advance voting for the first round of the presidential election ends on Tuesday.

By Monday evening, almost 1.5 million Finns had cast votes in the presidential election, with domestic turnout rising to 34.9 percent of eligible voters.

Advance voting for the first round of voting ends on Tuesday and election day is on Sunday. Advance voting abroad ended on Saturday.

Voter turnout has so far been highest in the Pirkanmaa region, where close to 40 percent voted by Monday evening. Early voting was lowest in the autonomous Åland Islands, with only 15.2 percent of eligible voters casting their ballot as of 8pm on Monday.

More women than men have cast early votes.

If there is a second round of voting, the election day will be on 11 February with domestica advance voting open between 31 January to 6 February. Finns who live abroad will be able to vote in the second round from 31 January to 3 February.
