Support for Jussi Halla-aho (Finns) rose to 18 percent in Helsingin Sanomat's latest presidential poll, which is only two percentage points away from the survey's runner-up, Pekka Haavisto (Green) who received 20 percent support.

Comparatively, Halla-aho received 13 percent support in a similar HS survey last month.

Meanwhile, the survey's leader, Alexander Stubb (NCP), received the support of 22 percent of respondents.

Both Stubb and Haavisto saw support levels drop in January's survey.

Twelve percent of respondents supported Olli Rehn (Cen), which was an increase compared to HS' last poll.

The Helsingin Sanomat-sponsored survey was carried out by Verian (formerly Kantar Public), with data collected on 17-20 January. It queried 1,008 people in Finland over the age of 18, excluding ones who live on Åland. The survey's maximum margin of error was 3.1 percentage points in either direction.
