The golden crosses were presented to the deserving mothers on Sunday at a special Mother's Day reception at the Smolna government banquet hall in Helsinki.
Among the mothers recognised for their work were foster mothers, widows, mothers of blended families, mothers of disabled children, and mothers who had raised their siblings' orphan children.
One foster mother provided a home for a total of 63 children and teens seeking refuge from families in crisis.
The mothers came from various parts of the country, with the youngest 42 and the oldest 94 years old.
