One card to visit them all: Finnish museums plan multi-access card system

The Finnish Museums Association is planning to introduce a multiple-entry museum card that will allow the holder to visit all of the country’s participating museums. The proposed one-card system will set visitors back 54 euros a piece.

The proposed multiple-use card system is the brainchild of the Finnish Museums Association, which is encouraging all of its member museums to join the project.

If the idea gets sufficient traction among member museums, the card will be taken into use from next year.

Visitors who take advantage of the multiple access cards stand to save up to 60 percent off the normal ticket price for each museum visit.

The Museum Association drew inspiration for the card system from the Netherlands, where museum cards account for up to one-third of all visits.

The cards have also increased the number of patrons visiting museums in the Netherlands – and their Finnish counterparts hope to do the same.
