Those wishing merry Christmas in a creative way via multimedia messages may find their seasonal greetings arrive a little later than planned.
That’s because teleoperator Elisa is finding it hard to cope with the volume of pictures and videos transmitted on Christmas Eve using mobile networks in Finland. Saunalahti customers also faced holdups on Christmas Eve when sending MMS messages.
Elisa estimates that delays could be several hours in duration, and that the problems are likely to persist until midnight at least. Text messages are getting through as normal.
