Audience voting whittled the competitors down to four heading into the final round: Tero Turunen, Leif Lindeman, Kyösti Mäkimattila, and Kalle Jussila.

Singers Leif Lindeman and Kyösti Mäkimattila then dueled for the crown in a so-called super final in which they both performed "That’s Why I’m Sad"  (Siks oon mä suruinen). Mäkimattila eventually prevailed to take the crown.

The 37-year old crooner comes from a long line of musicians including drummers and vocalists in southwest Finland.

On Thursday night singer Heidi Pakarinen was crowned the 2013 Tango Queen. For four years the organisers selected only one regent from the competition, however this year they restored the tradition of electing a separate Tango King and Queen.
