The number of employees will be cut by 87 in UPM at the Rauma mill and by 150 at the Ettringen mill. Employee negotiations concerning the closing plans were concluded in March.

The number of jobs at the company's Kaukas mills at Lappeenranta is to be reduced by 50 through retirement plans. Employee negotiations aimed at cutting jobs at the company's Jämsänkoski mill are still ongoing.

UPM says that employee reductions are a result of the company's need to permanently reduce paper capacity in Europe by a further 580,000 tonnes.
