Arla Ingman threatens to leave Finland

Dairy company Arla Ingman says it may abandon its milk business and blames Finnish dairy giant Valio for trying to squeeze it out of the market.

Last year, Danish-Swedish-Finnish Arla Ingman's milk business racked up losses totalling 15 million euros. The company’s turnover, however, grew by 7 percent.

Arla Ingman chief executive Reijo Kiskola says unhealthy competition is souring Finland's dairy market.

Valio recently announced a 30 percent wholesale price rise for its milk after Finland’s Competition and Consumer Authority in December found that Valio had been selling its wholesale milk at loss-making prices to force the competition out of the market.

Arla Ingman is headquartered in Sipoo.
