The area where the fairy tale castle will rise out of the snow has already been cordoned off in anticipation of the large-scale snow fabrication and construction due to begin Friday.
To safeguard the finished structure, the road works department of the city of Kemi will close streets to traffic in the harbor area for the entire duration of the snow season.
“Trespassing in the construction area is prohibited for safety reasons. We are asking adults and children to understand that the giant snow mounds are not suitable places to play,” said Kemi Travel.
Officials anticipate that the castle will throw open its frosty doors on January 26, 2013. Like the snow from which it’s made, the citadel’s season will melt away in April.
