WWF Criticises Finnish Inactivity Over Climate Change

The World Wildlife Fund WWF says Finland is not taking enough action to counter climate change. WWF Director General James P. Leape says Finland is lagging behind other Nordic countries in combatting climate change.

Addressing a seminar arranged by the WWF and the Parliamentary Finance Committee in Helsinki, Leape said Finland must participate as actively as possible to solve problems related to climate change in the same manner as other Nordic states.

He emphasized that Finnish energy solutions had both international significance as well as for the country itself from a global energy policy viewpoint.

Leape said the world's energy considerations could not be solved by nuclear power.

As a good alternative to the nuclear option, the WWF supports energy efficient and the use of renewable fuels.
