Yle organized the Baltic Sea Media Security Seminar in Helsinki on September 18, 2025. Participants included CEO’s, CTO’s, and security managers from public service media companies from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The seminar addressed topics such as media production resilience and cybersecurity.

The aim was to strengthen professional networks and identify common challenges. Additionally, participants found opportunities for collaboration and shared experiences and best practices. The meeting was organized for the first time.

”Yle has decades of experience in preparedness, and we are happy to share our experiences with others. Sharing experiences and cooperation are key factors in enabling media companies to maintain their operational capabilities in all situations”, says Janne Yli-Äyhö, CTO at Yle.

Ukraine's public service broadcaster Suspilne also participated in the seminar.

”Experiences of broadcasting continuity in a country at war are valuable to all European media companies now that the security situation has changed,” Janne Yli-Äyhö says.
