Prior to that, Törn-Mangs worked, for example, as Head of Media at Swedish Yle, Head of Digital Media at KSF Media and Managing Editor of News at Hufvudstadsbladet. She holds a master's degree in Science, Economics and Business Administration.

”The creative content produced by Yleisradio is an exceptionally multi-dimensional and nuanced entity, including a range that spans drama, music, cultural and factual journalism, and media policy. In her current role, Johanna Törn-Mangs has demonstrated the ability to swiftly grasp large complex issues and anticipate shifts in the operational environment. From the perspective of their leadership and the changes Yleisradio is facing, her experience as an editor-in-chief is highly valuable,” says Matti Apunen, Chairman of Yle’s Board.

”As the Director and Editor-in-Chief of Svenska Yle, Johanna Törn-Mangs has been comprehensively responsible for journalism and cultural content, as well as programmes for children and youth. This expertise provides a natural and strong foundation for leading all of Yle's creative content and media. Johanna possesses the ability to innovate Yle's creative content, from culture to drama and factual programmes. She also has a deep understanding of their significance as part of Yle’s public service. This is crucial as Yle continues to evolve to meet the diverse media consumption habits of its audiences in the future,” says Yle's CEO Merja Ylä-Anttila.

The Creative Content and Media unit’s director is the Editor-in-Chief of Finnish-language drama, factual, cultural and entertainment content as well as the content for children and young people, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the editorial staff of the Finnish radio channels and the editorial staff of Yle Areena as well as the international, archive and marketing content on all media. The unit is also in charge of the Finnish tv channels, the management of the broadcasting rights inventory as well as subtitling of programmes and other additional services required by law. The unit’s Director and Editor-in-Chief is also a member of Yle's Management Group. She will report to Yle’s CEO.

”In these times, Yle's role as a creator, developer, and preserver of culture is more central than ever. When the world appears uncertain and societal discourse seems polarized, it is vital that Yle provides high-quality content to Finns – content that educates, inspires, and unites, makes us laugh and brings comfort, and helps us Finns understand each other and the world better. I am excited and grateful to be part of fulfilling this meaningful mission together with Yle's creative professionals and domestic production companies,” says Törn-Mangs, who has been appointed Director and Editor-in-Chief.

Yle’s current Director and Editor-in-Chief for the Creative Content and Media unit, Ville Vilén, will leave his position in Yle's Management Group. In the future, he will be responsible for the overall operations of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (FRSO) and Yle's role as part of Musiikkitalo in Helsinki. The recruitment process for the new Director and Editor-in-Chief of Swedish Yle will begin later this year.
