In this video the members of the organization try to reclaim their Catalan identity and illustrate their mission as an organization that sees women’s and LGBTI people’s liberation through the separation from the sovereignty of Spain. The analysis is also based on the claims of feminist members of pro-independence left-wing Popular Unity Candidacy party on the creation of an independent feminist republic that have been discussed based on the recent Catalan secession vote on October 1st, 2017, which Spain’s government declared illegal. This research analyzes imagined communities, fetishization, social poetics, iconcity, and several other concepts referring to nation, nationalism, and feminism based on a specific case of Catalan fight for independence. The main question of this analysis is whether it is possible to build a feminist republic through this fight for nationalist independence? Even though the analysis has no straight answers, it gives more space for discussion of the idea and possibilities of creation of feminist republic through a nationalism.

While thematically diverse, the chapters share the conviction that the social sciences have much to contribute to the advancement of gender equality in society and politics, and they bear witness to how societal and political developments influence our research. Regionally, the book has a strong focus on the academic, political, and societal developments in the Caucasus region, yet also includes perspectives from Spain, Albania and Indonesia.
