As a universal study, Comparative Literature has been shaped and contributed from different continents’ cultures and literatures. In this article, that the birth and development of Comparative Literature in two different continents: the West and the New World has been discussed. Depended its origins on the Eurocentric scopes, Comparative Literature was universalized with the pens of the American scholars.

The theory of chronotope, which was introduced as part of Einstein's Theory of Relativity, made a significant contribution not only to the mathematics but also to the literary scholarship. In this article, based on his essay Forms of Time and Chronotope in The Novel (one of the four essays in his book, The Dialogic Imagination [first published as a whole in 1975]), most important types of chronotopes classified according to such kinds of literary genres are mentioned and compared at some points. This paper aims to create a portrayal of women figures in the Transposed Heads of Thomas Mann and... more This paper aims to create a portrayal of women figures in the Transposed Heads of Thomas Mann and the Epic of Gilgamesh by classifying the character into two groups: benevolent and malevolent. On the one hand, in the Transposed Heads, the female characters are mainly malevolent, on the other hand, in the Epic of Gilgamesh, the female characters are mainly benevolent. However, in both stories, the determinant figures on the male’s destinies are the malevolent ones – Sita and Ishtar rather than the benevolent ones.

As a result of nature’s being exploited by the Industrial Revolution, which gradually boomed during the nineteenth century, ecofeminism got involved in the literary studies.
Thomas Hardy refers to Ecofeminism by giving place to the rural and urban life in the Victorian era and draws an interconnection between nature and his heroines. The female protagonists Bathsheba Everdeen of Far From the Madding Crowd and Tess Durbeyfield of Tess of the d’Urbervilles majorly draw the attention of ecofeminist scholars since the emergence of Ecofeminism thanks to their close bond with nature.
