This fic is ancient, but I've revamped it a lot and put it up on AO3.

Title: The Aphanes

Summary: A troubled young mutant from Ottawa is referred to Dr. Xavier, and Charles must struggle with his own limitations in order to break through the boy's defences. Meanwhile, tensions rise up north as a small anti-mutant group begins to shake things up.

...Their mouths were hungry, so hungry.  Lips, tongues, and teeth swept, thrust, and scraped against one another, but it just wasn’t enough.  Fiona had never felt anything like this…this…NEED.  She needed to feel his mouth, his hands, his body on hers the same way she needed to eat, breathe, or run.  And at this particular moment she’d be happy to sacrifice any of the other three for more of what Pyro was doing to her.  In one fluid movement she straddled his lap, wrapping arms and legs around his body to bring them still closer together....

Story Arc Summary: As Rogue and Remy jet off to Paris for their honeymoon, Shadowcat and the rest of the girls still in Vegas after the surprise wedding try to distract Wolverine from the loss of his favorite student, but their mischief has unintended consequences.
This Chapter: Back in Vegas, Shadowcat and the other girls decide that a strip club has everything they need to distract Wolverine.

Fiona stared at him, hard, before she began throwing out questions with the ferocity of Randy Johnson.  She may not be a 6’ 10” Major League pitcher, but Fiona had every intention of bringing just as much intensity to this particular game.  And if Pyro stumbled or got knocked down, he had no business crowding the plate anyway....

...Pyro started to say, “You’ve got great fucking timing, Frost,” but he never had a chance.  By the time he’d opened his mouth, he could only shut it again.  He hadn’t heard anything but Emma’s opening parry; definitely hadn’t seen any movement.

But now Pyro saw that Emma’s nose was gushing copious amounts of blood.  Blood had splattered all over her heretofore sparkling-white clothing, and Flash’s fist was specked with red.

Still unable to respond, Pyro could only watch in astonishment as Flash sank to her knees, hands pressed to her ears and moaning in apparent pain....

...Years after his first encounter with the shapeshifter – no, decades later, he corrected himself – Hank still felt an overwhelming sense of guilt when he thought of the young girl named Raven Darkholme.  A lifetime of academia, meditation, and the occasional violent interlude had brought him peace with his own physical appearance.  Long ago he’d given up wanting to look human and had accepted his bestial exterior.  But as he’d done several times over the years, Hank wished that he could have embraced Raven’s unique appearance long ago.

As he reflected on how much death and destruction might have been averted, and his mood turned morose.  If I’d only been able to accept her for whom she was…
