If you write 10k a day, you will end up with a book. If you write 1k a day, you will end up with a book. If you write 500 words every Tuesday, you will end up with a book. If you write 100 words before bed, or 50 whenever you can, you will end up with a book.

When I was 22, I asked a fellow male author if they wanted to trade manuscripts. He told me he’d send me his, but he didn’t want mine because “pretty girls were meant for pictures” instead. That was my only value to him. His art. My body.

Dear self, STOP trying to write it right the first time. That isn’t possible. Just write it wrong so you can make it better.

If you write 100 words a day, you'll end up with a book. If you write 500 words a day, you'll end up with a book. If you write 5,000 words a day, you'll end up with a book. It doesn't matter how fast/slow you write, if you stick with it, you'll end up with a book.

Reader 1: I love this book. Reader 2: I hate this book. Reader 3: Never stop writing. Reader 4: Ugh stop writing. Reader 5: My favorite part is X. Reader 6: X was the worst part. You will never please everyone. Instead of trying, write something that will make YOU proud.

A year ago, I wrote a queer vampire story I pitched as "Buffy meets Killing Eve" about a teen vampire looking to make her first kill, who sets her eyes on a girl at school, only to discover, when she tries to bite her, that the other girl is a vampire hunter.

How to write a book: 1. Sit down. 2. Oops, forgot your tea. 3. Sit down. 4. Could use a cookie. 5. Sit down. 6. Make a to-do list. 7. Make a shopping list. 8. Make a playlist. 9. Uh oh, tea’s cold.

Chris Evans is the only sexy Chris, and it has nothing to do with his ass, and everything to do with his rescue dog and his ethics, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

If you read a book, rate it. If you loved a book, share it. If you care about a book, talk it up. I cannot tell you the strength of word-of-mouth. It is vast. You have power.
