Apparently I was logged in to Codex with my API key / which obviously I never did paste a key anywhere. Downloaded the gahdem thing and fired it up.
Hence the amazing charges. Logging out and back in put me back to my Plus plan.

The mistake was picking Sol 5.6 / should have started with Terra, or even Luna. The app is nothing insanely fancy. Built on Laravel + Tailwind + Alpine + Livewire.
An expensive lesson for sure. Building one more module on Sol and then will switch.

All in all, Codex created something decent I can iterate on. It's a UX nightmare so far, but the idea is there and I can further refine it until it's acceptable for production.
