31 years since my dad sent me to the shop for a tin of red and white striped paint and the shopkeeper sent me back to ask him if he wanted horizontal or vertical, and i sussed out on the way home what was going on and then kicked the front door so hard it broke.

To be fair to the guy, he did always say he was going to "lie in front of a bulldozer." And now he has, for forty straight minutes.

Quite intrigued by the legal position around announcing the price of something, have people queue for 10 hours, then at the front, tell them it’s gone up by 300 per cent. I’m sure it’s fine but a ten million person class action against ticketmaster would cheer the nation right up

Robert Jenrick, is 42 years old. He's just said on GB News that he has "served in the government of the last five prime ministers." Just completely hilarious that that is actually true.

People aren’t keen on Elon’s Twitter but the “readers added context” feature is genuinely excellent. Here’s the actual prime minister of the United Kingdom being quite correctly called out for his massive lies.

I want to protect the price of your pint at the pub. And now the UK has left the EU, we can do just that. So we’re bringing in one of the biggest shake ups to the alcohol duty system in the last 140 years. The plan 🧵👇
Graphic reads: Brexit guarantee to back British pubs. Protecting pubs at the heart of British communities. Tax paid on pints in the pub now cheaper than the supermarket. Lower prices in shops for UK favourites like Irish cream, pre-mixed gin & tonic and prosecco. New tax relief for small producers to help grow their business.
    Readers added context
All of these things could be done while the UK was a member of the EU. Minimum allowed duty on beer in the EU is less than 10% of what is charged in the UK. taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/taxation-1/exc…

HS2 now feels very much at the point where Kevin McCloud reappears to find the wife gone.

I quite want to be there when his teenage daughter reads this and asks him ‘did you really leave mum because you couldn’t work out on your own what to give a five year old for lunch?’

So unless you earn £38K you can no longer marry anyone who doesn’t have their own right to live here. People keep saying that means 73 per cent of Brits can’t marry a foreigner - but it’s worse than that isn’t it? You get married when you’re young. Hardly anyone young earns that.

I’ve never forgotten Chris Hoy’s words after he won his sixth Olympic gold medal at London 2012. “I shut my eyes and I lunged and drove it all the way to the line. Then I heard this massive roar, and I hoped that it was for me." The sheer modesty of it. What awful news.

We built it. We spent almost a decade wondering what to do with it. And we still didn’t think to use it for cricket.

I don’t think I’ve listened to a single budget in the last ten years in which the price of a pint hasn’t been reduced in some way. And yet, for some reason, when I bought two of them last week it cost me £15.20.

I see that chap who’s run the length of Africa has raised £700,000 for charity. A top effort but can’t help noticing that sort of money won’t even build you your own commemorative spa complex.

Like, what is actually wrong with us as a country that we allow this to happen? Absolutely nowhere else does this.
