This fabulous trooper ticked over 200,000 miles today. Still feels as tight and robust as ever, and the 100PS 1.9PD engine punches ridiculously far above its weight.

Isn’t the world sometimes a wonderful place? No history came with my mk5 Escort when I bought it, so I wrote to the previous owner to see if he’d kept anything. I had a suspicion he would, given the excellent condition of the car. This pile arrived today: I’m a happy boy!

Filled up the Escortilicious after 461 miles, and the gauge wasn’t even on the red yet. A comfortable 500-mile tanker I think! Calculated it out at 48mpg too, which is really rather good for a 4-speed

I may have done a new car purchase... Facebook Marketplace special, still with its elderly owner of the last 15 years. Heated leather seats, sunroof, carpet on top of the carpet in the boot. Some jobs to do, but 106k miles means plenty of life left Collection on Monday 😀
