I keep wanting to share this recent post, and since X doesn't seem to want to stop devolving any time soon I might as well now. I spent a lot of time working on a concept of an idea of a prototype to push LLMs into the direction of applied social sciences.

Talking to a friend who works more than me: buddy, it’s called life. It’s called joy, time with family. Nature. Talking to a friend who works less than me: at a certain point in every man’s life he needs to step up bro

Whenever I see videos like this, I think about their ancestors, who must have thought "It's easier and safer to learn to live in these harsh conditions of snow, than risk being killed and attacked by other humans in warmer and more fertile environments"

I made up a story for my daughter at bedtime about a friendly elephant. And how he was nice to everyone, even the hyenas who were mean to him. But then I got scared I was teaching her to not stand up for herself, so I ended the story with him killing all the hyenas.

My hot housing take is young people would be happy in a home like this if it was safe, clean, walkable, had good schools, and kind prosocial neighbors. That’s how they used to be. Now this house is correlated with pitbulls and meth.

This is true. In our culture being bombed is considered a sign of great disrespect.

Persian mindset does not allow them to not retaliate. I'd be nervous as hell to be on a US base in the middle east rn

Just keep your eyes to yourself and you’ll be fine, don’t wear headphones. Just big city stuff. Also don’t be elderly. Try not to be a child or a women. Just common sense stuff.

Los Angeles cops are looking for a homeless man who went on a stabbing rampage in East Hollywood, leaving an elderly woman in critical condition. They say it was unprovoked. The suspect is still on the loose. Gavin Newsom's California is thriving.

In early America norms were different and men were more comfortable being emotionally open and sharing sleeping quarters and beds. Assuming this means they had gay sex is ironically the most toxic masculinity I can imagine.

Secrets of our success talked about this sort of thing. But it’s still extremely hard to internalize the extent to which early humans ran absurd experiments constantly and discovered the most insane shit. Like every time still I’m surprised.

Thread: Before refrigeration, Russians kept the milk fresh by dropping live brown frogs straight into their milk buckets. The frog’s presence kept milk from spoiling, but no one knew why. Until Albert Lebedev, a scientist from Moscow State University decided to look into it...

when I was like 10 years at the turn of the millenia I googled "windows hacks" and downloaded a file from some random website called "destroy windows" and it looked like a bomb icon. I then double clicked it and it destroyed my dad's computer.

Last year, State Farm canceled 1,600 policies in Pacific Palisades because the state would not allow them to raise premiums enough to cover their exposure. The affected homeowners would then likely have to rely on the state-run FAIR Plan, an expensive last-resort insurance

When I was in 7th grade, one night I listened to My Way by Limp Bizkit on repeat while playing Diablo II. And my brain dumped so much dopamine it crystallized this formative experience, and ever since then I measure my enjoyment of things as a ratio of that moment.

You have to admit it's kind of remarkable that trying to meet everyones needs ends up killing about as many people as deliberate extermination.
