    Yes, but to poor people in Louisiana in his time -- who were the vast majority -- Huey was the only hope they had for a better life. My rural ancestors who lived through the Depression there knew Huey was corrupt as hell, but were grateful for him. They loved FDR too.

    Huey Long was an infamously corrupt far-left radical who thought FDR's big government was insufficiently radical.

    I feel the same way. I don't believe in their religion, but I admire the dedication of gentle, polite young men ("Elders"😁) who know they're going to face, day after day, doors slammed in their faces (figuratively and literally), but do it anyway, out of religious conviction.

    Two good young men stopped by on their Mormon mission as I was reading on the porch today. White button downs, name tags. I said, “I love what you guys are doing, but, I’m Catholic.” The one kid says, “So no chance?” I just winked.
