A link in a chain. If I say something mean about farmers, rest assured I’m talking about those other guys, not you, I’m sure you are a true steward.

With songs referencing Palestine, Greenland, Mexico, western fires & water wars, and an overarching theme of disintegrating American empire, some enterprising young conspiracy theorist should look into why Common Loon's Long Dream of Birds is the Rosetta Stone of the 21st century

“How much space do wild things need” is one of the saddest, most impoverished understandings of life, common to many now.

Does the federal government really need all this land? I like beavers and elk, but how much space do they need?

This is a bigger story than the tattoo. You are being watched. Everything you do is going in the Permanent Record just in case they need it.

New details are emerging about the recent Politico article on Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner. The report highlighted a deleted Reddit account allegedly tied to Platner — but notably did not explain how that account was located or verified. Multiple political

How very sad we took American Prairie, one of the most unique, diverse, and productive ecosystems on the planet, and turned it into chemical-drenched, fossil-fuel burning, mindless-monocrop corn/soy rotation.

In Illinois, this is the space we give wildlife: a tiny sliver of drainage ditch in the vast expanse of corn and soy. It's not habitat so much as conduit for farm pollution where animals try, against odds, to survive. IL ranks in the bottom 5 states for % of public land, btw.

Headline malpractice, @washingtonpost. Just Terrible. A bat disease meant more insects so farmers used more pesticides, and a study found increased pesticide use led to more infant deaths. This headline is engineered to get people to freak out about bats, not pesticides.

The other thing about the dire wolves that disturbs me: This can be used as a permission slip to go 19th century on what little wildlife remains. “Don’t worry about it, if we kill off [X], we’ll just bring em back!”

These aren’t Dire Wolves. They’re lying to get you hyped and to raise money that *could* be spent protecting the wolves we *have* Fuck these clowns.

What do you think, is it "dramatic histrionics" that Palantir is building a master database to keep track of all Americans for the Trump Administration?

I know the official name of the Gulf is a controversial topic, so I'd like to propose my compromise solution that has the benefit of brutal honesty.

"Average Summer Dead Zone" is my new album that will be dropping later this year. A 5,500 sq mile (roughly the size of Connecticut) dead zone in the Gulf of Whatever is expected this summer. Just an average dead zone in over-fertilized middle America. Good job farmers!

60% of stream miles assessed by Illinois EPA are too polluted to support indigenous aquatic life 80% of streams are too polluted to support human contact 100% of streams are too polluted to support fish consumption 75% of IL is in agriculture This is not a coincidence

Spend any time in a rural area and you will find they care far more (and more genuinely) about most environmental issues than folks in cities.

Tomorrow is National Prairie Day so it's a good time to remind everyone that Illinois calls itself "The Prairie State." But a more honest name would be "The No More Prairie State." (original image by @BOUCUR, I believe)
