I first had this pointed out to me a while ago- a LOT of "heartwarming" stories are based on human suffering or some severe injustice, and people just trying to cope with a broken system. It's depressing, not heartwarming, that these are our current conditions.

I think that good genes ad was absolutely an intentional dogwhistle with built-in plausible deniability. I think that, given the direction this country is going in and the concept behind the brand itself, they were trying to appeal to racists. And I think they knew that-
