#BlackInNature is trending as part of #BlackBirdersWeek 🙌🏾. I’m participating with my most recent bear tracking in Tahoe 🐻. I do it for work rather than recreation but love my time in nature nonetheless

I love grand adventures, but even a short jog or yoga can do wonders. Thanks to @REI Co-op I was able to experience the beautiful outdoors while visiting family this summer. Membership is more than gear - it's close-to-home experiences too! @REI #BetterIsOutThere #REIPartner

This morning I’m lecturing in a 4000 seat theater. Yesterday: Person: are you related to the speaker? Me: I am the speaker Person: I’m so sorry! I thought maybe you were the scientist’s wife Not posting this to shame anyone, but I’m sure many women can relate!

Used to watch this channel as a kid and dreamed of being on it one day ✨🙏🏾
Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant has always loved watching nature shows. Now she's a large carnivore ecologist, studying lions and bears in the wild. #NatGeoWomenofImpact

Reminder: existing as a Black professional in majority white spaces is always hard, & especially during waves of racial violence. Productivity keeps food on the table for my family yet comes at the expense of proper rest, mental health care, & community involvement. Give us grace

Ok Twitter - do your thing! I'm looking for anyone who has a grizzly bear skin from 19th century (or earlier), ideally from the American Great Plains region. I only need a snip of fur for a stable isotope analysis that has MAJOR potential. Please retweet & help me find bear hair!

FINALLY! Many folks in the conservation community have been shouting this from the rooftops for years.

I am still at a loss for words to convey how surreal it is to see myself hosting the same show that inspired me as a kid. T-minus 1 month until premier day!
Welcome to a new era of Wild Kingdom... Our new series premieres Oct. 7 only on NBC.

Ok, ok. Deep breath. @sam_kean wrote a piece for @ScienceMagazine about how European science was largely made possible by the #slavetrade. Sure. But the LANGUAGE IN THIS PIECE is irresponsible and it hurts!!! A thread...sciencemag.org/news/2019/04/h…

I rented a car a day earlier than I need it for the sole purpose of parking somewhere with no WiFi so I can write a research proposal w/o distractions. I’m not a workaholic nor a perfectionist. Nope, I’m an apartment-living/early career scientist/& parent during #COVID #StayHome

#BlackHistoryMonth means acknowledging that I studied this black bear cub not far from where #HarrietTubman was born. She likely encountered numerous bears on her journeys taking Black folks to free states & she knew exactly how to navigate safely through bear country 🐻

NYC’s #CentralPark has never had a statue of a real woman or a person of color...until today. Life-sized statues of ✨ME✨ & 5 of my heros were erected this morning, making history I never dreamed I’d be a part of. This was made possible by @IfThenSheCan @TheWCS & my ancestors👸🏾
