- Replying to @ActuallyyJPTotally, so many kinds of inequity that shape who is affected by this heat and how.
- Replying to @veenadubalI cannot begin to imagine the depth of your sorrow. Sam was a truly remarkable soul. His compassion and commitment to justice left a deep impression on us from the moment we first met him. I am holding you and your family in the light. I hope he is at peace.
- So much, but just off the top of my head, pieces by Sophie Chao, María Elena García, Deborah Bird Rose, Thom Van Dooren (on mourning), Annu Jalais, Nayanika Mathur, Juno Parreñas, Alex Blanchette, Ambika Aiyadurai, Naisargi Dave, Alyssa Paredes. All excellent writers.
- Replying to @AOHSUsometimesYI can only imagine. It’s maddening. I felt the same dislocation when I was in India this winter, and folks were telling me COVID was done while the US was collapsing.
- Not to mention the creepy story of how Boney abandoned the kids and flew to Venice because Beena aunty told him that some Italian dude had been flirting with Sridevi.
- Replying to @veenadubalDear Veena, also one of Sam’s new colleagues. I am so sorry to hear this. Hoping he is found soon. Please let us know if you need anything.
- There are hundreds in the park near my parents’ place. First summer I’ve seen them die in droves like this though.
- Replying to @SouthAsianBuoyYes, please. I'm trying not to lose my shit at colleagues who think that only students (let alone staff and faculty) in South Asia have the right to be affected by what is going on. It's horrendous enough as is without having to constantly explain your mental state to people.
- Replying to @Majuli_ChaporiThe worst part is that the nights are so hot. There’s no reprieve
- Another vote for @AnnuJal & @JunoIsHere's fabulous books. I'm also excited about @NayanikaM's Crooked Cats. I'd add Benedicte Boisseron's Afro-Dog, Zakkiyah Iman Jackson's Becoming Human, Alex Nading's Mosquito Trails, Sophie Chao's work (no book yet), & Marcus Baynes-Rock's book
- Replying to @alfgunvaldI’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with this again, Alf. Solidarity. Unfortunately, from painful past experience with him, I don’t have much faith in the decency of our field.
