Some Personal News: I'm writing a book! SONS OF GOD is about the young American men moving into more demanding forms of Christian faith and practice, and what that means for the country’s political and spiritual future. Truly excited about this reporting. Here we go!

Just got a package. My husband, a freelancer, sent himself a box of Harry & David pears with an encouraging note for the holidays.

Love this. My then-4-year-old drew a portrait of my mom that included her intestines.

It's nice that we're gradually adding a layer of resentment and dissatisfaction to every human experience

Europe's oldest known person, a nun named Sister André, beat the virus and turns 117 today. Her lunch menu today includes foie gras with hot figs, roasted capon, Roquefort, baked Alaska, port wine, Champagne, and "maybe a few glasses of red wine."
Sister André, who is Europe’s oldest known person, became infected with the coronavirus last month as it swept through her nursing home in Toulon, in southeastern France.

Imagine Jesus coming to your house, you have a great conversation, you give away half your money, you make amends, he blesses you….and then you’re immortalized in one of the catchiest songs in human history as a “wee little man”

Journalism tip: When writing a story about complicated people who may who do both good and bad things, add either "(This was good.)" or "(This was bad.)" at the end of every paragraph, and then state clearly in the final graf who was good and who was bad overall. Hope this helps

And he took the No Contact Communion Host Dispenser, gave thanks and pulled the Gold Tone Dispenser trigger, saying, “This is my body, sold separately.”
