The season is over, so: Since Oct. 5, I followed @uncwbb closely. I had awesome access to practices, film sessions, shootarounds and more, in Chapel Hill and on the road as the Tar Heels experienced the highs and lows of a season. And I'm writing a book about it. Coming soon.

And we’re 28 games into the season, and Caitlin Clark has only played in 13. Despite what a lot of people like to believe, folks are watching so much more than just her games.

The WNBA is averaging 794,000 viewers through 56 games this year across all national networks, a source tells FOS. That is 21% higher than the WNBA’s full-season viewership average in 2024.

Why are they sabotaging their sport because of this young lady? I was in the Olympic hotel in Paris and didn’t recognize half of their team—and I’m a junkie.

Here’s a crazy idea: Let cities that don’t have WNBA teams bid on it. Charlotte, Baltimore, Tampa, Nashville, Kansas City, Denver would all be great.

EXCLUSIVE: Why do so few teams want to host the WNBA All-Star Game? Chicago was the only team to bid for 2026, sources tell FOS. The WNBA had to recruit Indianapolis to host in 2025, and Las Vegas hosted three out of four times before 2024. Story by @AnnieCostabile ⬇️

Kim Mulkey after the loss: “… that team has been in these situations. My team hasn't.” Mulkey, before the game: “Dawn’s not going to out-coach me.” Part of coaching is preparation. And so, while SC was playing MD, UNC, Duke, Utah, Notre Dame, SD State… LSU was playing:

Spirit players literally ran over and grabbed the stretcher because they weren’t moving fast enough. This is after players, coaches and refs are whistling, yelling and waving for the medical crew.

A thought: After her first home game w/the Fever May 17, DeWanna Bonner, 37, said: "The crowd kind of shocked me a little bit. This is my first time playing in this kind of environment." It’s true. The interest in Caitlin Clark’s team is like that of a men’s major-league team.
