GenAI poses a much deeper pickle for Google than I initially assumed... The last few weeks completely echo the time I was at Google in the early 2000's when we were up against Microsoft - except this time Google is on the receiving end. Looking back, we beat Microsoft not

Success is an anti-pattern. There are so many degrees of freedom that most lessons from success are over-fitting and close to impossible to generalize (aside from the obvious things like a good product, big mkt, pricing power, etc). Screw-ups however are way more deterministic :)

TBH, I wonder if it's not just the CEO choice - I think it's whether you area able to stomach a 50% hit to your market cap because you're willing to break your search experience to create a completely new model. FWIW, even if you look at Satya / MSFT, they're able to be

I don’t disagree with you. I still think that Google is a great company & root for it to do well. Rather, I feel that they are in a tough spot b/c it’s go-time on a field of play that requires being risk-on with the core business & other players don’t have the franchise to lose.
