Spine Race write up is finished.
It is LONG.
Thanks to @paul_steele for hosting it for me because I had no idea how to create my own site to post it on ๐๐ผ
I spent a good chunk of this mornings run removing tape/race signs from the Pennine Way. ๐
These were left by a race company 2 weeks ago.
I emailed them on Tues, tagged them on Insta and someone posted my screenshot onto their FB page.
No reply.

โฆand someone had commented โpeople will always find something to complain aboutโ ๐คฌ
Anyway. Iโve cleared it.
But I shouldnโt have to.
Someone went and marked it out.
Someone could have taken them back in.
Poor show @IGUNrunning
On yesterdayโs ride I was passed 3 times by lorries from the same company (Farrell Transport) and each one was textbook and safe๐๐ผ
I dropped them an email to say it was noticed and appreciated as it doesnโt happen much these days ๐
Great news for me ๐ฅ but really bad news for sportsmanship ๐
The below happened because a fellow competitor cheated.
She travelled in a car for around 2.5 miles of the M2L 50 mile event last week.
After an investigation, she has now been DQโd, and rightly so. ๐งต
8 hours on a training course entitled โhow to manage stress at workโ today. ๐ซ
90 mins on my bike this evening beats anything I learnt in that 8 hours ๐ด๐ผโโ๏ธ
99.25 miles in total.
14758ft of elevation.
5 days.
0 midge bites.
100โs of amazing views.
Solo hike of the West Highland Way completed. ๐๐๐ฝ
The Winter Spine race 2025.
What. A. Ride!
The Pennine Way tried a few times to stop me from reaching Kirk Yetholm, but it didnโt win.
I am immensely proud of the last 5 days and pushing through to the finish line of such an iconic event.
Thank you for all the messages ๐ฅฐ
What a race!
110 miles along the Pennine Way in 32 hours.
Battered by a thunderstorm overnight, a mug of tea at Malham then a death march over the cam high road to the finish.
Would I do it again? Absolutely!!
Mel Sykes has arrived in Hardraw as the winner of the Montane Summer Spine Challenger South.
Sheโs arrived with an almighty lead over her closest rival after an extremely tenacious performance throughout a difficult night and day todayโฆ
