it’s just a memetic counterweight to “a system produces bad outcomes but its intentions were pure so everything’s ok”. equally as inaccurate but i guess that’s how these games are played.
anything that requires regular effort from the consumers is unworkable. the only way around it is to remove the “regular effort” element. tesla powerwall is quite popular.

i'm very far from a professional at drawing but one eye-opening exercise for me was to copy a photo reference that's turned upside down. your eyes stop recognizing the abstractions, leaving only geometry
Agreed. During the last 5ish years there were many times where I thought “but surely we can solve AI safety with X… ah fuck that doesn’t work”. Without those experiences I wouldn’t be nearly as doom-ish as I am.
... and that reaction is perfectly normal. The argument is extremely compelling when you've read a lot about it and sat with it for over a decade, but it's easy to forget that journey and think people should just "get it", at least for me it can be.
