Imagine being Miyazaki, pouring decades of heart and soul into making this transcendent beautiful tender style of anime, and then seeing it get sloppified by linear algebra

In retrospect this was the best smartphone. High productivity, low addiction. No infinite scroll, no engagement hacking, just messaging with your friends and typing emails very fast with that clicky keyboard. Someone should do a new one.

Yesterday during partial eclipse a friend mentioned it was weird that the city still seemed at full daytime brightness despite 95% of the sun being covered. Fun to see how our senses being logarithmic to external stimuli -- not linear -- shows up in everyday settings

It's underrated how many mega successful people are just innately way higher energy (sleep 5-6 hours a night, always on, work through weekends for the fun of it, etc.) Becomes painfully evident the more of these you interact with: they just operate at a high frequency.

Pretty much every smart person I know has a ChatGPT tab open while they work now. Amazing how fast that happened.

The 'vibe shift' on here is everyone realizing they will still have jobs in 2030.

Honestly just stunned by these Ghibli-style SF images generated by Stable Diffusion

For the confused, it's actually super easy: - GPT 4.5 is the new Claude 3.6 (aka 3.5) - Claude 3.7 is the new o3-mini-high - Claude Code is the new Cursor - Grok is the new Perplexity - o1 pro is the 'smartest', except for o3, which backs Deep Research Obviously. Keep up.

It's underrated just how much of the economy is basically wealth transfer from young people to Boomers. Boomers own the majority of homes in cities, 21% of them are millionaires, and they *still* get subsidized healthcare (Medicare) and social security...

Early retirees like Bill & Shelly will see their health insurance premiums increase nearly 300%—from $442 to $1,700 per month if Congressional Republicans refuse to extend the enhanced tax credits. That's an extra $15K a year families can't afford. cnbc.com/2025/10/17/aca…

GPT-2 (2019) vs. GPT-4 (2024) look how beautifully original gpt-2 is! it's like comparing gpt's poetic child drawings vs. corporate emails from middle age.

Packed house for Oppenheimer in Copenhagen. Audience gave a little cheer every time Niel Bohr was mentioned.

Met a longtime meditator today who told me his inner monologue vanished and he missed it and regretted losing it. Also that he missed having some anxiety/neuroticism because it’s a useful source of fuel/drive. Meditation is great, but should come with a warning label.
