I can’t even imagine what people at the front are feeling right now. Just months ago, Ukrainian morale was at its highest point since the late-2022 counteroffensive. Now, Kyiv seems to have squandered that momentum through domestic political infighting.

If I had to vote in peacetime, I’d probably vote for Fedorov. But calling for an election during an all-out war is wrong. There’s no way Ukraine can hold an election now, with the country defenceless & millions at the front. It would only destabilize an already fragile country.

No one in Ukraine has ever hoped that Russians would protest against anything. Like ever. For Ukrainians, Russians protesting is an oxymoron.

Zelensky, under pressure from the streets, was forced to fire the highly unpopular Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi. The protesters still expect Zelensky to overcome his ego, and reappoint Fedorov as defense minister. This one will be much harder. No one likes to admit mistakes.

In this legendary video from May 2014, Mykhailo Drapatyi leads his 72th brigade out of besieged Mariupol. Today he became Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief. A highly popular and trusted general. Godspeed!
