St. Rita finally has its baseball state championship. The Mustangs won the wildest title game in state history today. “The only thing I can compare [this game] to is the Cubs’ Game 7 of the World Series [in 2016]" - St. Rita senior Colin Quinn.
St. Rita's Sully Kazee, facing, and the rest of the Mustangs celebrate their walk-off 12-11 victory over Triad in the IHSA Class 3A state championship game.

JUST IN: This is a shocker. Sources say the IHSA board will announce today that basketball season can start on schedule, defying the guidance given from Gov. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Health. chicago.suntimes.com/2020/10/28/215…

Chicago takes high school basketball seriously. This was the scene at tip, Morgan Park vs. Findlay Prep in the Navy Pier ballroom.

We should also all make note of the strange politics happening. IHSA tells media it is making a 2 p.m. announcement. Governor strolls out and drops an IHSA news bomb at noon. This should have been so much more coordinated. Students, parents, coaches, schools deserve better.

Overbearing sports parents are everywhere. Marquise Walker lived through one of the worst cases the past four years. He was hyped as a kindergarten superstar, then physically abused and left homeless. Walker decided it was time to tell his story. suntimeshighschoolsports.com/2019/04/12/mar…

If someone WANTED to devise a system to guarantee blowouts in 8 state championship high school football games, it might be difficult to achieve this kind of success. There are several significant teams moving up in class next year, but the current IHSA system is broken.

I’ve seen Chicago stuff basketball courts into churches, shoe stores and the Chicago Theatre. Now it’s the Navy Pier Ballroom.
