I noticed something very weird on campus today. Only 5% of students, staff, & faculty mask (not the weird part). Nearly all maskers wore high-quality masks. We smirk at each other, as if to say, can you believe all of this? It's like a secret society of ppl who read science.

Big news: 24 states are making it free and easy for you to file your taxes next year. That's right - no more shelling out for TurboTax or H&R Block. Americans spend about 9 hours and $150 just to file their taxes. That's why we fought to make IRS Direct File a reality. Woo-hoo!

I walked into a building today. About 80 people were there. 100% masked. About 80% in KN95/KF94, 10% in N95 or elastomerics. Indoor air quality better than ASHRAE Standard 241. It was not a hospital, a scientific conference, nor a dream.

All 3 of my young children got vaccinated for Covid and flu today at an outdoor pediatric vaccination site in New Orleans. 💉💉💉💉💉💉 We had to wait 90 minutes. It was the highest demand I have seen thus far for children's vaccines during the ongoing pandemic.

Did anyone else catch ABC last night? Kimmel had on Kristen Bell who produced a show where half the actors went out sick in August, nearly canceling the show. The next show had Ashley Park who was hospitalized with sepsis last Jan. Guess what wasn't mentioned.

Just plugged today's CDC numbers into my new forecasting model (releases Mon). My initial reaction was "Jesus Christ. That's bad. That's really really bad." If you live in the West in particular, it's currently about as bad as last winter. About 1 in 23 infectious out West.
