New from me: @usedgov is vastly expanding the scope of the Supreme Court's affirmative action ban and declaring all use of race in campus programs and academic life illegal. Colleges have 14 days to comply or risk losing their federal funding.

I’m at @AmericanU today, where @austaffunion members are striking for higher wages after reaching a standstill in contract negotiations with administrators. Well over 100 people turned out in the heat to march through the law school.

As of this morning, we've tracked over 600 student visa revocations at more than 100 colleges. That's double yesterday morning's count. Send updates to me or @amowreader and follow @insidehighered's interactive visa map here:

I'm on @today_explained again, this time taking a look at how college got so expensive, the crisis of confidence in the value of a degree, and what policymakers can do to to help (hint: boost public funding). Had a blast with this one! Give it a listen:

NEW: The pace of student visa revocations this week is staggering. Upwards of 200 have been reported—but the total is likely much higher. I talked to college officials reluctant to report dozens of visa terminations, anxious to avoid federal scrutiny.

FAFSA completion rates are trailing so far behind last year that we could be on track for the largest enrollment dive since the pandemic -- one that would mainly affect low-income students of color. My story on the urgency of the completion crisis:

Plunge in FAFSA completion could spark an enrollment crisis
The number of students who filled out the federal aid form is down nearly 30 percent. The ramifications for access and enrollment could be devastating.
