23 years ago today (Nov. 18, 1994) Shaun Alexander ran 33 times for 253 yards and 2 TDs & had a 62-yard pick-six as Boone County stayed unbeaten (13-0) with a 30-21 Class 4A playoff win over Campbell County. Alexander increased his season totals to 2,730 yards and 49 TDs.
CovCath's AJ Mayer didn't win Mr. Football but got a state football title. CJ Fredrick didn't win Mr. Basketball but got a Sweet 16 title. "The ultimate award we wanted was the state championship," Fredrick said, speaking for hoops teammate Mayer. "We just care about our rings."
